LEGAL BIOGRAPHY
Ken Klopper started his career in the admin section of the Department of Justice while studying law at UNISA. His first station was at Goodwood and thereafter at Somerset East and Hermanus. He served as the resident district Magistrate and head of office at Aberdeen and as prosecutor at Graaff-Reinet. After serving as the Senior Prosecutor at Welkom, he was appointed as an additional Magistrate in the criminal and civil courts. He was then transferred to Dordrecht as the resident district manager and head of office.
After successfully completing the prescribed test for aspirant Regional Magistrates in Cape Town and Wynberg he did duty for a short period as a Regional Magistrate in the Ciskei before accepting a post as Regional Magistrate at Vereeniging. Six years later he was appointed as a Regional Magistrate at Paarl. He took up a post with Legal Aid, South Africa as High Court Unit Manager to establish a base of practitioners in the Western Cape High Court and also served at the Regional Legal Manager for the Western and Northern Cape Regions. During 2010 to 2016 he entered into private practice and also served as a practitioner in the High Court with Legal Aid, South Africa. He has also dealt with Supreme Court and Constitutional Court matters. He is currently a private practitioner and advocate of the High Court in South Africa and appears in district, regional and high court matters.
Ken also served as an acting Judge in the Western Cape Division during 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2016.
Ken is a member of the National Forum of Advocates and also a member of the Bar Council.
